Take a hike

It is easy to walk from 24 Calle Del Sierra to a nearby hiking trail. The Matt Davis trail is on Belvedere Avenue. Turn at the firehouse (at the southern end of town) and go up Belvedere:

You'll see the trailhead within a few minutes:

It is about a 40 minute trip to Bishop Steps (not in photo), where you can walk out onto a rock ledge and see the town and beach below. Kids as young as four years of age can probably make the trip with some encouragement:

Stinson - an idyllic little village

For a decidedly small town, Stinson Beach has much to offer. How about a 155-seat theater:

Or iced mochas, blended espresso, Chai tea, or fruit smoothies at the Stinson Beach Market:

And across from the market, a small park designed and built by the locals:

Three Augie's in the month of August

My son (on the right) attends a small school with class sizes of twenty students or so. Last year he had another classmate named Augie (on the left). The owner of the Sand Dollar Restaurant is also named Augie. I wanted to get the three of them together on the Sand Dollar's porch, but unfortunately the third Augie was missing from the scene.

It's a jazzy place.

Another enjoyable aspect of Stinson is the live music at the Sand Dollar Restaurant & Stinson Beach Grill:

At the Sand Dollar:

At the Stinson Beach Grill:

Dogs run (and swim) free!

The beach at Stinson Beach is mostly dog-friendly. The only section that isn't is the Federal portion of the beach, which takes up a minor section of it:

The dog-friendly section of the beach is a true dog paradise. It is not a remarkable thing to see thirty or more dogs of various stripes in a two-hour period of time:

Mini-update

The house now has drapes and window shades. In addition, there is wireless (& wired) DSL, two televisions (one for the upstairs unit & the other downstairs) - each with a built-in DVD player, basic cable TV (for both units), a Weber gas grill for the upstairs deck, and a new washer/dryer.
